Welcome to the official website of the Rotary Club of Jakarta Sentral! This website is a repository of the club’s projects and accomplishments for seven years now, a venue by which members can meet online and share their vibrant thoughts on current issues that need Rotary’s intervention or assistance, and an open book for readers to know how a small group of 25 can make a difference to MAKE DREAMS REAL, theRotary International’s theme for 2008-2009 aptly chosen by RI President Dong Kurn Lee.
The theme’s mother-and-child logo seems to fit my being chosen as the first woman to serve as president of the club in its 7th year. Indeed, it is a distinct privilege to be part of this illustrious club of highly professional people with a generous heart for genuine service. As a young Rotarian entrusted to lead a multi-cultural, high-profile club this Rotary Year, I have learned much about leadership as a value shared by all members and friendship as a moving force that unites the club in all its activities. Every club meeting leaves a pleasant memory of friendship and fellowship interwoven in a colorful batik of ideas and projects shared by members and guests. I love this Club!
The Rotary Club of Jakarta Sentral echoes District Governor Keliek Soegiarto’s inspiring love for children in his message that “If every Rotarian in the district can help a child, 1700 out of a hundred thousand Indonesian children dying each year could be saved to make their dreams real.” RCJS sings his uplifting “Semangat Rotary” march as its own song and recognizes the SEMAR pin he wears as a symbol of the club’s oneness with the District 3400’s commitment to “Serve with my Heart.”
This club is home to John H.G. Soe, our model Rotarian who has become my benchmark for quality Service above Self. AG John is in the frontline of the club’s PolioPlus program and is the chief architect of the Banda Aceh health center. His unsurpassed record of 100% attendance in club meetings, his club leadership in The Rotary Foundation, his gentle spirit and professionalism passing The Four-Way Test, and his hard work quietly demonstrated in his award-winning accomplishments and art designs for the clubare indeed a hallmark of an outstanding Rotarian.
On behalf of the Rotary Club of Jakarta Sentral, I would like to invite you to join us in our quest for a better world for the sake of the current and next generations through membership and/or partnership in our activities and projects that focus mainly on health and education, such as PolioPlus, HIV-AIDS awareness and education, Banda Aceh health center, library development, and computer literacy, Read about our projects, see on which one you think we can work together, taste the experience of becoming involved, listen and share by attending our Tuesday luncheon meetings, and be a member of the club. We also like to hear from you; please feel free to write us about your thoughts.
Cheers to RCJS’ 7th anniversary!
Yours in Rotary,
Josie Cacdac
